Parliamentarians for Climate Finance

Parliamentarians for Climate Finance
Driving green investment for a sustainable future
The Climate Parliament is a global network of legislators dedicated to addressing climate change and protect the living planet. In collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and with support from the Green Climate Fund (GCF), we are working across 15 sub-Saharan African countries to create the right conditions for green investment and accelerate the move to green energy. The aim of this project is to bring governments, businesses, and communities together to scale up renewable energy.
Why climate finance is essential
To meet the goals of the Paris Agreement, significant public and private investment is needed in renewable energy and climate resilience. However, many countries struggle to access the necessary funding. Our project is tackling this challenge by equipping parliamentarians with the knowledge, networks, and tools to attract green investment and shape policies that drive sustainable development.
What we do
Over the next two years, we will:
Build legislative capacity
Through targeted workshops, we will support parliamentarians in developing policies that encourage green investment and the growth of green industry.
Facilitate Green Zones investment dialogues
We will bring together legislators, public and private investors, ministers, regulators, and experts to explore opportunities and remove investment barriers for Green Energy Zones and other projects.
Develop actionable solutions
By fostering collaboration, we will generate real-world strategies that help unlock funding and drive climate action.
A practical approach to climate action
By supporting legislators in shaping climate finance policies and connecting them with investors, we will help drive economic growth, create jobs, and build resilience against climate change. Public funds alone cannot meet the investment demand, but by aligning policy frameworks with investor needs, we can unlock new opportunities for the energy transition.
This is a crucial moment for action. With the right leadership, partnerships, and investment, African nations can lead the way in building a future that is green, sustainable and prosperous.
